The Riverford Field Kitchen is the award-winning restaurant based on our farm in Devon. The food offer is wholly organic and veg-centric with an emphasis on shared dining and fresh seasonal produce - often straight from our fields.
We like to contribute to awareness of ethical food and farming initiatives and campaigns with regular events involving farm walks, foraging and local suppliers. Past events include ‘Save the Bees Night’ with the Bumblebee conversation trust, ‘Foraged Food & Foraged Beer Matching Night’ with Woodman’s Wild Ales, “Goat Night” with Cabrito – an ethical goat supplier and “Saving Our Soil” farm walk and awareness supper with the Environment Agency.
We are looking for an adaptable Head Chef who gets excited by seasonal produce, cooks everything from scratch and has a genuine passion for vegetables - they are the star of our show and The Riverford Field Kitchen is the showpiece to inspire Riverford customers old and new to cook with their veg boxes.
Our kitchen is open and encourages guests to chat to the chefs. We host supper clubs, veg cookery demos and workshops, requiring chefs to present to guests, so an open, customer-friendly approach is a must for our Head Chef. Writing recipes for our guests to replicate at home is required – they have many questions!
Outside our day job, The Field Kitchen also caters for a local primary school; are involved in engaging the rest of the company in food-based events, catering for staff events, cooking for Riverford Pop Up Feasts around the country, as well as occasionally popping up on our own at restaurants and festivals.

be able to think outside the box,
offer ideas and solutions and
be able to refresh our offer for our customers.
This is a challenging role running a restaurant within a company which is not a hospitality specialist - but is focused on food and the environment.
We do have our own polytunnel and allotment garden for The Field Kitchen though! If you love growing, gardening and cooking; cropping your herbs and veg immediately before service and working with a Head Gardener to plan the fresh produce on your doorstep, this may be your perfect job.
