Pophams Bakery is looking for CDPs to join our kitchen team in Hackney, and restaurant in Islington. We are open 6 days a week and run a lunch service Tuesday – Sunday 1130-1600. Our restaurants are open Tuesdays – Saturdays 1800-2300. 

The Hackney menu is continually evolving, and generally consists of a small seasonal offering at lunchtime; whilst the pasta restaurant offers handmade artisanal pasta and seasonal dishes created with a modern approach to ingredients and cooking techniques. 

The Islington restaurant offers a simple and frequently changing menu of fresh, seasonal dishes, using the best suppliers, alongside a modest yet wide ranging wine offering. The restaurant is a further extension of our well-established daytime bakery: offering a relaxed ‘home from home’ environment and experience, and serving food and drinks of the utmost quality, with exceptionally friendly service.

As a team we have a collective approach to menu development: drawing on the experience of all team members to create new dishes and valuing the input of each individual.


We are looking for CDPs to join our kitchen teams, and work on rotation within the lunch and evening services.

This would involve the setting up of all stations and mise-en-place for all sections in the kitchen; cooking each item to order and clearing cleaning and closing down after each service. There would be potential for this role to develop – involving menu development and input.

The role is full time, 5 days a week and will involve working both lunch and evening services.

Candidates should be:

-An experienced independent worker. Able to work well under pressure, prioritise tasks and also look ahead at what needs doing

-An organised and clear communicator: you will take full responsibility of your stock, and be required to communicate with the Head Chef your par levels and when orders need to be placed

-Enthusiastic and committed to working in a small team, with a shared goal of producing exceptional dishes

-Able to take own initiative and think on feet where necessary

-Interest in hand shaped pasta (if applying for the Hackney role)

-Passionate about producing food in an artisanal way, and using fresh, seasonal produce

-Driven and reliable

- Willing and eager to learn and develop skills

-Clean, presentable and happy to work in an open kitchen



-Lunch and evening service

-Stock control

-Work closely with Front of House team to ensure all services are delivered to a high standard

-Cleaning of kitchen and all food preparation areas

-Ensure compliance with food and health and safety regulations



-Competitive salary, based upon experience

-Tronc payments (in addition to salary) – 12.5% service charge is equally shared amongst restaurant team. This would be an estimated additional £4-5k a year.
