Teacher of Outdoor Work- Baking, gardening, growing, cooking, inspiring....
Bedales School

Baking, weaving, honey-making, vegetable growing, farming, fencing, hedge-laying, animal husbandry, building, blacksmithing, crafting, learning, teaching … these are just a few of the things you can expect to be involved in as a Teacher of Outdoor Work here at Bedales.

Specifically, we are looking for an excellent vegetable grower, baker and cook. Someone who has the ability to inspire young people about food, where it comes from, and how we can live with the land. It will give you the opportunity to change how we, as one of the UK’s most progressive schools, looks at food and growing in an educational context. You’ll be given creativity, freedom and support to turn your vision into a reality, as a key member of the department.

It is an exhilarating time here at Bedales. We are about to embark on a new ten-year strategic vision, and the environment is one of the key components. Outdoor Work is a cornerstone of our heritage, exemplifying the school’s moto of ‘work of each for weal of all’. If you’d like to put your skills and enthusiasm to work in this kind of place, we’d be very happy to hear from you.
