Join the small but mighty team of line cooks in our respectful, quick-paced, good-vibed kitchen! Work in a beautiful, open space with natural light, the best local ingredients, and views of the Delaware River. Compensation includes a generous share of the pooled tips, significantly balancing incomes and building a sense of camaraderie between front and back of house. 
 Daily changing menus ensure that line cooks at Finnbar are engaged and challenged, but never overloaded, allowing them to turn out beautiful and delicious plates of food for the appreciative clientele in this pretty and friendly town just an hour and a half from downtown New York and even closer to Philadelphia. Working alongside Cal Peternell you'll become immersed in locally-grown, seasonal ingredients and the best ways to transform them and when to step back and let them shine with simplicity and elegance - skills Cal honed in his many years running the kitchens at Alice Waters' renowned Chez Panisse.

 In addition to cooking, you will work with the kitchen team to maintain a clean, friendly, and organized workspace, as well as assist in ingredient preparation and proper storage. Collaborating to source the best and most exciting ingredients will be encouraged - no garden is too small and we are eager to find them all!

To qualify for this position, candidates should have a passion for cooking and a willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic culinary environment. Previous experience as a line cook or in a similar role is preferred. Strong communication skills, teamwork, efficiency, and niceness are key attributes we are especially looking for.

 

 

 Finnbar, like its name (Frenchtown Inn and Bar reduced to a tasty, saucy bite), is a restaurant that gets right to the point: great drinks, excellent food, even better company. Acclaimed cookbook author and former longtime chef at Chez Panisse, Cal Peternell and his team are mixing cocktails, pouring local beers and ciders, and offering an easy, thoughtfully chosen wine list to accompany simple, seasonal, bright, and delicious food. Finnbar’s produce-driven, Mediterranean-inspired menu will be served in our beautiful, historic dining room and lively, friendly bar. Everyone is welcome.

 Finnbar sources ingredients from the nearby small farms of New Jersey and Pennsylvania and aims to become part of the local network of farmers, ranchers, and fisherfolk who share our commitment to sustainable practices.

 In partnership with ArtYard, Finnbar exhibits art from nearby Studio Route 29, a progressive studio serving artists with developmental disabilities. Seventy percent of profits from Finnbar will go to support the work of Studio Route 29.
