Experienced Chef de Partie – Glebe House, Devon

Full-time | £30,500 – £35,000 DOE

Come and join a truly unique kitchen team in East Devon where food, farming and hospitality come together in one of the UK’s most authentic slow food operations.

Glebe House is a restaurant with rooms on a 15-acre smallholding, run by a young, dynamic team with a deep respect for provenance, tradition, and craft. We’re currently looking for an experienced Chef de Partie, or junior sous chef ready to step up, to help us grow and shape our ever-evolving menus.

Why This Might Be Your Dream Role

We make everything from scratch – sourdough, fresh cheese, cultured butter and yoghurt, jams, preserves, fermented drinks, and a whole range of salumi and charcuterie.

We cook seasonally and reflect the rhythm of our land and livestock in the dishes we serve.

Our food is served through weekly-changing 3- and 6-course set menus, hosted in our open kitchen restaurant space, where chefs interact with guests.

You’ll be surrounded by people who care deeply about ingredients, technique and hospitality – and who are eager to share, learn and grow.

Who You’ll Work With

You’ll be working directly under Head Chef David Knapman, whose career spans world-renowned kitchens including The Fat Duck and Maison Lameloise in Burgundy. This is a rare opportunity to work shoulder-to-shoulder with a chef trained at the highest level, in an environment where learning and creativity are actively encouraged.

The Role

Lead a section and take pride in your craft

Collaborate with the kitchen team on new dishes and techniques

Prep and serve beautifully cooked, seasonal food in an open kitchen

Help maintain a clean, calm, and guest-focused kitchen

Get hands-on with butchery, fermentation, preservation and baking

We’re Looking For Someone Who

Has 3+ years experience (or similar confidence) in a quality kitchen

Is hungry to learn and improve

Communicates clearly and works well in a team

Cares deeply about ingredients, farming, and food culture

Wants to be part of something meaningful and ambitious

The Perks

Tips and service charge on top of salary (approx £3k - 4k per annum)

Training in butchery, fermentation, salumi and cheese making

Family meal every day

Work-life balance and a healthy, kind kitchen culture
