About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, dedicated and passionate Head Chef to lead the kitchen at Shore Hotel, a newly refurbished, independently run 5-bedroom hotel located just off the NC500 in the seaside village of Balintore.

Shore offers a 50-cover restaurant, 20-cover bar, seasonal takeaway. Our vision is centred around fresh, high-quality dishes from land and sea, using produce from our own farm just 1 mile away and seafood landed at the harbour across the road. A key part of this role is helping to tell that story through the menu and overall dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver cost-effective, seasonal menus that showcase local produce 
  • Lead, mentor and inspire a small kitchen team 
  • Oversee all kitchen operations 
  • Manage stock control, ordering and GP targets 
  • Maintain exceptional food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards 
  • Work closely with the General Manager to ensure smooth operations 
  • Champion the story and provenance of ingredients across the menu 
Qualifications Requested
Skills & Experience • Proven experience as a Head Chef in a quality hospitality setting • Strong leadership and team management skills • Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment • Strong communication and organisational skills • A passion for local sourcing and storytelling through food
