We are looking for an experienced (or culinary trained) Pastry Chef/Baker to lead the kitchen of our new venture in The Cinnamon Cottage Cafe in the picturesque seaside village of Monkstown, Cork. We hope to open on June 29th 2026.
No shift work, no night work and the kitchen to yourself - the dream baking job.
Working days are Tuesday to Saturday or Wednesday to Sunday 7.30am to 2.30/3pm. (Exact days and working hours are currently being finalied as the cafe is being renovated).
At The Cinnamon Cottage specialty food store in Rochestown, we pride ourselves on producing the best quality, homemade desserts. Using fresh ingredients (no mixes), we make delicious homemade breads, scones, cakes, biscuits, tarts, fruit cakes & much more (see @cinnamoncottage on Instagram to see our latest products).
We are looking for someone with experience in a commercial/culinary school kitchen, but more importantly, with a passion for making high quality desserts and cakes. We want someone who works well in an intimate team/and on their own initiative and to share responsibility in preparing cakes, breads, desserts, and tarts on a daily basis.
The person will be working with a team of 3 other pastry chefs (who are based in our Rochestown store) and reporting to the head chef and owners. This role is ideal for someone looking to get more experience in a commercial kitchen or indulge their passion in baking.
Some of the main responsibilities of the role include:
- Make fresh items for the cafe daily including set up and clean down of kitchen
- Cook/heat fresh food items for cafe breakfast/lunches
- Manage stock and place daily orders.
- Have excellent attention to detail & organisational skills
- Deliver a high standard of baking and cooking on a daily basis.
- Have a high level of hygiene and cleanliness, including HACCP/ Manual Handling training
- A keen knowledge of baking techniques and the elements surrounding it.
The work is varied and rewarding. Working hours are ideal and very social, no nights, no shift work and more time to enjoy evenings with friends and family.
The right candidate will be offered on-site training on our menu and many opportunities to develop their skills by taking on more responsibilities and help develop products. Salary is negotiable and depends on experience.
