Location: Ballymaloe Cookery School, Shanagarry, Co. Cork


Job Type: Full-Time – Tuesday to Saturday. Part-time can be considered.

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Production Kitchen Cook to join our growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with fresh, seasonal produce grown on-site, creating high-quality food products for our farm shop, local farmers' markets, food fairs, and special events. You'll play an important role in bringing our farm-to-fork philosophy to life while supporting a sustainable, low-waste approach to food production.

What You'll Be Doing

Food Production

  • Preparing and cooking a variety of fresh, seasonal food products. 
  • Producing retail items including ready-to-eat meals, baked goods, preserves, and other farm shop/market offerings. 
  • Maintaining consistently high standards of quality, taste, and presentation. 
  •  

Working with the Farm

  • Collaborating closely with our farm team to make the best use of seasonal produce. 
  • Adapting menus and production schedules based on crop availability.  
  •  

Kitchen Operations

  • Following all food safety, hygiene, and HACCP procedures. 
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient working environment. 
  • Assisting with stock management, rotation, and storage. 
  •  

Markets, Events & Cookery School Activities

  • Helping prepare products for farmers' markets, food fairs, and local events. 
  • Assisting with packing, logistics, and transportation of goods. 
  • Supporting off-site events and food production when required. 
  • Providing assistance with cookery school activities, demonstrations, and practical sessions. 

 

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience of cooking/baking in a professional kitchen, ideally within a production, bakery, or batch-cooking environment. 
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, organisation, cleanliness, and workflow. 
  • Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP practices. 
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills. 
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
